Midland, TX

We had planned a trip to Midland to visit Jason's father John and his grandmother Dovie. Unfortunately, Jason's great uncle Charlie passed away a week before we were supposed to leave. We decided to move our trip last minute and make the 12 hour drive to attend Charlie's funeral and visit with all of the family. The girls got to meet their great grandmother Ellen and all of their great aunts, cousins, and uncles. It was great to see everyone in one place. I just wish it was under different circumstances. All of the family was wonderful and very nice.

The trip down was quite a mess. Both girls are teething and taking them out of their daily routine and expecting them to sit in their carseat for 12 hours threw them into a major frenzy. About 5 hours into the 12 hour drive I told Jason, "You were right, we should have flown." The girls napped for maybe 2 hours the whole day and by the time we arrived in Midland, both of them were crying, tired, and hungry. They were done! We immediately fed them, changed them into pj's and set up the pack and play for nighty-night. We put them down and everything seemed ok for about 5 minutes. That was when Jill decided that the pacifier in her mouth and the one in her hand were simply NOT enough and needed to steal Kates. Well, this sent Kate into a frenzy and then Jill started crawling all over Kate and vice versa. They haven't shared a crib since they were 3 months, so bringing ONE pack and play was a mistake....BIG MISTAKE. We bought another pack and play the following day and it was the best $45 we spent all weekend. We had a wonderful time visiting with everyone but alas it was time to pack up and head back to KS. The girls did MUCH better on the way back. Thank goodness! Here are some pics from the week we spent in Midland.
