The beauty of it all

The girls are very adept at 'drawer digging'.  They like to take out and put back everything within a toddlers reach.  Lucky me!  Yeah that's my sad attempt at being sarcastic.  I realize this is a stage and that they will eventually grow out of it, like in 16 or 17 years.

Recently while unloading a drawer in the master bathroom they stumbled across some old makeup brushes of mine.  I don't mind them playing with the brushes.  In fact, they have been carrying them around for a couple of days now. They pretend to paint the walls, comb their hair, and brush the dogs. As long as it keeps the girls away from the cotton balls and a repeat performance of "let's spread 500 cotton balls all over the bathroom".  Never......Again.....  And don't get me started on the q-tip incident's.  Yeah, that's plural for more than one.

Naughty Kate

I firmly believe that all children are drawn to the household's pet food and water.  It's this inexplicable force urging them to explore and play.  Whether it is a dog or cat, it's all fair game.  Luckily the kids haven't eaten the dogs food....yet.  I am sure a day will come when I catch Jill happily chewing on some dog kibbles or Kate licking the water bowl.  I have caught Jill using her fork to stir the dog food, so I am pretty sure a taste test is just around the corner.

A few days ago, the girls were VERY interested in the dogs eating.  Kate laid down on the ground right next to Bailey and watched every mouthful he was eating.  Luckily our dogs have never shown any food aggression unless the food in question is a pigs ear.  Just to be on the safe side, I shoo'ed both of the girls away so the dogs could eat in peace.  Yeah right!  Jill amused herself with some other task while Kate went back to watch.

This time I had the camera in hand and caught Kate red handed or wet handed while happily splashing in the dog's water.  Good times!

Busted, but I will give you my sweet smile to distract you

I will now apologize to Murphy by giving him a hug.  The cuteness of the whole scene will make mommy forget that I was playing in the dog's water, yet again.  Mission accomplished!

More Park Fun!

We had absolutely lovely weather yesterday.  The high was a balmy 62 so the gals and I headed to the park.  We took full advantage of the warmer weather before the snow predicted this weekend.  They had a wonderful time playing.

Did you eat?

The girls are becoming more particular about what they eat.  I am doing my best to introduce them to all sorts of food, rather than dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets.  Katelyn LOVES her veggies.  You name it : peas, carrots, green beans, spaghetti squash, broccoli, she loves it all!  Now Jillian is a hot mess when it comes to veggies.  She won't touch them.  She will occasionally take a bite, here and there, but not on a regular basis.  So you can imagine my excitement when I noticed all of her peas were missing from her plate.

"Wow, you ate all your peas!  You are such a big girl, eating your veggies!"
Then Jillian matching me with "goo gurhl"

I took her out of her high chair only to find where all her peas went.  She was sitting on them.

Jillian quickly figured out how to unroll and eat a grilled chicken wrap.

Katelyn isn't quite sure what to do.  She inspected, licked, and poked the wrap until it fell apart.

I Tuck, I Tuck

Both of the girls have learned to say "I'm stuck", but it is more like "I tuck".  I was throwing a load of laundry in yesterday and kept hearing, "I tuck, I tuck, I tuck" over and over.  I peeked around the corner, and indeed both of the girls were stuck.

As a side note: As I am going through the pictures I feel bad that my girls hair looks so terrible. Yes, each picture their hair looks all jacked up. I swear I comb it. Sometimes several times a day. Right now the air is so dry and the static electricity is well, shocking. As soon as I comb their hair, it looks as though they have a hairy swim cap on. I have given up if we are at home. I will still battle the evil static electricity with bows and pony tails if we leave the house.

Baby it's cold outside!

As everyone has heard, the Midwest has had quite the cold snap this week.  It has been downright frigid.  The gals and I have been hanging around the house and playing.  One thing they have showed some interest in this week is my computer.  I was washing dishes, in my own la-la land when things got quite.  When things get quite around here you know the kids are into something.  Usually it is the dogs food or water which Jill LOVES to play in.  Luckily I had my camera close at hand and snapped a few pictures.

Jillian, being the expert climber, needs to get a closer look

Maybe it's some wishful thinking, but we pulled out the sunglasses.  Now if it will just warm up!

Park Pictures

What a lovely day!  Today the highs made it to the low 60's.  We decided to head out to the park and enjoy the day.  Both of the gals had a great time.  They LOVE sliding!  The sun felt great and we could not have asked for better weather.  Now tomorrow the high is 11 degrees, so I am thinking that a 'home day' is in order.

Jill didn't want to leave the park so she threw a fit in the car.  Lucky me!
